The edition of the 27 bridal letters from the Nuremberg patrician daughter Susanna Maria von Tucher to the Rostock history professor Karl Hegel was made possible by their completely unexpected discovery in the private estate of the historian, two years after Hegels letters to his bride had been published as issue 87 of this series. If "Susettes" letters are presented here, then not for the sake of the completeness of an exchange of bridal letters, but to shed more authentic light on the life of Susanna Maria von Tucher and her position as the eldest daughter in one of Nurembergs most traditional families, as well as her social situation in her hometown from a very personal perspective in the middle of the 19th century. The previously unknown letters from the family to Maria Helena Susanna Hegel are printed in an appendix, which the widow of the philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel kept in her own inventory at the time of the engagement and wedding of the bride and groom.
