In this stunning volume, the well-known photographer Princess Marianne Sayn-Wittgenstein, whose work has appeared in many respected publications, gives us a glimpse of her own personal photo album. The result: an extremely intimate overview of her life and times. Her work is a personal chronicle of the beau monde of the past 60 years, of people and places she knew well. The photographs are distinguished by their artistic touch and keen insight. Her subjects were close friends, who, comfortable in her presence, revealed their true selves. The resulting images include many original glances of famous personalities, such as the photograph of Aristotle Onassis trying to repair his beach car!
The eldest child of Baron and Baroness Mayr-Melnhof, Princess Marianne Sayn-Wittgenstein, was born in 1919 in Salzburg. She attended the Blocherer art school in Munich. Her pictures, originally taken just for her family and friends, were revealed to a public audience in a series of highly-acclaimed exhibitions and publications from the 1990s on.
