The third delivery of the Popes gestures 844-872 opens up the pontificate of Hadrian II, which is sometimes referred to as an "unwilling inheritance". During his term of office, many groundbreaking decisions were made regarding the relationship with the Eastern Roman Church (Photian schism, Bulgarian question). The disputes in the West Franconian Empire, in which Hinkmar von Reims and Hinkmar von Laon were primarily involved, determine the subject of the volume. In this respect, disputes that were in the foreground in the second delivery will be dealt with further in this third delivery. The total registers for all three deliveries make up a large part.
