Praėjo dvidešimt dveji metai nuo 1997-aisiais surengtos parodos Tylusis modernizmas Lietuvoje 1962–1982, liudijusios romantizuotą, amžininkų atsiminimais pagrįstą požiūrį į sovietmečio dailės modernizacijos procesus. Laikotarpio tyrimams įgaunant naują pagreitį, plečiasi nagrinėjamų temų ir problemų laukas, veriasi nauji archyviniai šaltiniai, gilėja patirtys. Emocinį santykį su tyrimų objektu keičia skirtingomis metodologinėmis prieigomis grįstas kritinis požiūris, kurį, tęsiant darbus, prasminga aptarti. ——————————————————————- This publication is comprised of a collection of papers presented during the seminar “Was There a Quiet Modernism in Lithuania?” held in the National Art Gallery, Vilnius, on December 1, 2018. Their most current research, both academic and personal, represent a critical reevaluation of the paradigm of quiet modernism which was based on rather intuitive premises. The views on the processes of modernisation of the Lithuanian art during the soviet period offered by the show “Quiet Modernism in Lithuania: 1962–1992” twenty two years ago (1997) were mostly romanticised and based solely on individual memoirs. Since then this area of research has greately benefited from the continuous expansion of its thematic and problemic fields, emergence of new archival sources and accumulation of research experience. It is now time to overview the methodologically driven critical approaches that have came to substitute the emotion-based reflections.
